1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit a website or use an app. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences over a period of time, so you do not have to keep re-entering them. Cookies can be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (remain on your device until they expire or you delete them).

2. How We Use Cookies

NurseCenter uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and session storage) to operate the platform, remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how visitors interact with our website. We do not use cookies to serve third-party advertising or to track you across unrelated websites.

3. Types of Cookies We Use

  • Strictly Necessary Cookies: Required for the platform to function. These include authentication tokens (managed by Supabase), session identifiers, and security cookies. You cannot opt out of these without losing access to core features.

  • Functional Cookies: Remember your preferences such as display settings, language, and whether you have accepted this cookie notice. Disabling these may affect your experience.

  • Analytics Cookies: Help us understand how visitors use the site — which pages are visited most, how long users stay, and where they come from. We use this data only in aggregate to improve the platform. We do not link analytics data to individual identities.

  • Payment Session Cookies: Set by our payment partner PayGate during the checkout or card-consent flow to maintain the security of your payment session. These are session cookies and are deleted when the flow completes.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Some features of our platform rely on third-party services that may set their own cookies: (a) PayGate — payment processing session management; (b) Supabase — authentication and session persistence; (c) Vercel — performance and edge network cookies. These parties have their own privacy and cookie policies, which we encourage you to review. NurseCenter does not control third-party cookies.

5. Local Storage & Similar Technologies

In addition to cookies, our mobile app uses device storage (via AsyncStorage on React Native) to persist your authentication session securely on your device. This data is stored locally and is not transmitted to our servers except as part of the normal authentication flow. You can clear this data by logging out of the app or clearing app storage in your device settings.

6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You can control and/or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to: (a) view cookies stored on your device; (b) block all or specific cookies; (c) delete cookies when you close your browser. Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in or using core platform features. For guidance on managing cookies in popular browsers, visit aboutcookies.org or the help section of your browser.

7. Do Not Track

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Because there is currently no universally accepted standard for responding to DNT signals, our platform does not alter its behaviour based on DNT headers. We are committed to only using cookies as described in this policy and do not engage in cross-site behavioural tracking.

8. POPIA & Consent

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), analytics and functional cookies require your consent. By continuing to use our platform after being presented with this notice, you consent to the use of non-essential cookies as described. You may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your browser or device settings. Withdrawal will not affect any processing carried out before your withdrawal.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology or legislation. Material changes will be communicated at least 14 days in advance via a notice on our website or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
